Why Contractors prefer CeDUR Synthetic Roofing Products
Project Portfolio and Authentic Wood Colors
Enhance your project portfolio with beautiful CeDUR synthetic roof installations that show unsurpassed beauty and curb appeal. Each CeDUR synthetic shake is molded from natural cedar shakes and features unique grain patterns and depth. 50+ unique molds are randomized daily so every bundle of shipped material is truly unique. This gives your roof deep shadow lines, rich wood texture, and incredible depth and realism which makes for stunning curb appeal. Natural movement is designed into our product to give your roof the natural cedar shake appearance. A CeDUR roof provides depth, dimension, thickness, texture, and deep grain patterns that you expect from the most realistic imitation shake.
Our colors are designed and engineered to emulate the authentic beauty of natural cedar shakes. While other roofing alternatives claim to offer the real wood shake look, none can match the authentic wood beauty of CeDUR synthetic roofing products. Other roofing products that attempt to look like natural cedar shakes are simply unauthentic and have a sheen look and shiny appearance in direct sunlight. CeDUR synthetic shakes will, by design, shift color upon exposure to the sun. CeDUR implements a proprietary color system designed to gradually weather to natural wood tones up to the first 90-120 days of installation (depending on time and intensity of sun exposure), and then stabilizes at a weathered wood color for the life of the product. After that time period the color will set and remain constant over the life of the product.

Higher Margins and Solid Product Composition
Your bottom line is important to your business. Increase your margins per project by installing a premium high end roofing product. CeDUR features color through pigmentation and Closed Cell Technology which allows color to permeate all the way through our product instead of being applied to just the surface of the product. In other words, CeDUR is a solid product from top to bottom and front to back. CeDUR is not a hollow back or cavity back roofing product, so on the back side of the product you will not notice a waffle like structure. Instead CeDUR is solid throughout with color through pigmentation. This allows for easy installation on a roof’s valleys, eaves, gable, rake, and hips because the CeDUR product can be easily cut and scored using a utility knife to fit into tight or unique spaces on your roof without sacrificing appearance.
Our proprietary polyurethane manufacturing process allows CeDUR synthetic wood shakes to be solid throughout and extremely light weight and durable. CeDUR features a Class 4 Impact Resistance Rating, stand-alone Class A Fire Rating, and a 50 Year Limited Warranty. These are the highest ratings available in the industry. CeDUR is the best alternative to cedar shakes and can be installed in any climate or environment. CeDUR synthetic shakes are extremely durable and resistant to heavy snow, damaging hail, freeze / thaw cycles and high wind.
Class A Fire Rating - ASTM E108, UL 790
No special fire-resistant underlayment is required during installation to achieve the Class A Fire Rating
Wind resistant - certified to 115 mph wind - warrantied to 90 mph
Class 4 Impact Rating - UL 2218 Impact Rating
50 Year Limited Warranty
Light Weight and Easy to Install
CeDUR is one of the lightest roofing products available for purchase. At just 170 pounds per square (1 square = 100 square feet on your roof), CeDUR synthetic shakes are lighter than architectural asphalt shingles, clay tile, concrete, recycled rubber, and slate. Our lightweight product composition makes the product easy for roofing contractors to handle and install. CeDUR does not have a cavity back so you can cut and score the product with a utility knife or skill saw. This allows for easy installation on your roof’s valleys, eaves, gable, rake, and hips because the CeDUR product can be easily cut and scored using a utility knife to fit into tight or unique spaces on your roof without sacrificing appearance.
Lightweight - no structural modifications are necessary prior to installation
No special tools or accessories are required
Does not require a special batten system
Can be installed in staggered courses
Can be installed in straight courses
Installs like natural cedar shakes
Unlike other roofing products that may require a batten system prior to roof installation, CeDUR installs direct to the roof deck and no special tools or hardware are required during installation. Our synthetic roofing products do not require a special batten system during installation or the need for costly structural weight modifications or special reinforcement to the roof structure.
CeDUR is installed in a similar fashion to natural cedar wood shakes. If you have experience installing wood shakes or wood shingles, you can install CeDUR. Our lightweight product composition means there is no need to consult with a structural engineer prior to installation. We feature just three product pieces: shake, starter, hip and ridge.

The Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. (UL) tests products and technologies for safety before they are marketed around the world. The UL 2218 Impact Test is the standard for impact resistance testing in the roofing industry. The test evaluates the effect of impact from a steel ball on a roofing test deck assembly.
There are four impact resistance ratings from Class 1 to Class 4, with Class 4 being the most impact resistant. In the Class 4 impact test, a 2-inch steel ball is dropped from a height of 20 feet on multiple surface points of a CeDUR Shake. CeDUR did not incur damage from the steel ball and passed the test with a Class 4 Impact Rating (highest rating achievable).

CeDUR weighs only 170 pounds per roofing square. One roofing square, or square of roofing product, is the amount of material needed to cover 100 square feet of roof area. With CeDUR there should be no structural concerns at this weight. If you are working on a historical landmark or aged structure, it is best to consult with a CeDUR Team Member prior to installation.

Fire ratings (UL 790 testing protocol) are granted at one of three levels: Class A, Class B, and Class C. Class A is the highest rating a product can receive. The Class A Rating indicates the product has equaled the testing industry's most stringent fire resistance standard, a measure of how the roof will perform in severe fire conditions.
CeDUR boasts a Class A Fire Rating without the need of a special fire-resistant underlayment. When comparing fire resistance of synthetic roofing materials it is wise to understand that other synthetic, composite, or polymer based roofing products require a special fire-resistant underlayment during the roof installation. CeDUR is the only product that does not require that special underlayment.

Through our State of the Art Polyurethane manufacturing process we are able to engineer a product that provides high insulation value and is extremely resistant to fire. CeDUR shakes are a solid top to bottom and front to back and do not feature a cavity back underside. In addition, CeDUR is also composed of polyurethane where as most other synthetic or composite roofing products are composed of polyethylene.
Natural wood shakes ignite at 375 degrees Fahrenheit, the temperature on our Class A burn test reached a temperature in excess of 1,400 degrees Fahrenheit and CeDUR roofing shakes did not ignite. Through our patented manufacturing process CeDUR shakes achieve a Class A Fire Rating without the use of a special fire resistant underlayment. Discerning homeowners and industry professionals choose CeDUR because of our extreme fire resistance and stunning wood beauty.
