Fire Safety is our #1 Priority
Protect Your Home with CeDUR Fire-Resistant Synthetic Roofing Products
Your roof is the first line of defense against wildfires and a CeDUR synthetic roof is one of the most fire-resistant roofing products available for purchase. CeDUR synthetic wood shakes are Class A Fire Rated and no special fire-resistant underlayment is required during installation to achieve the Class A Fire Rated roofing system. CeDUR synthetic roofing products are fire-resistant and stand-alone Class A Fire Rated. Many alternative roofing products feature a Class A Fire Rating, but you must use a special fire-resistant underlayment system to achieve the Class A Fire Rating. The CeDUR product itself is Class A Fire Rated - without the need of a special fire-resistant underlayment.
Fire-Resistant CeDUR Synthetic Roofing Shakes
CeDUR Synthetic Roofing Products are stand-alone Class A Fire Rated and perfectly replicate the desirable cedar wood shake look. Natural cedar shakes ignite at around 375 degrees Fahrenheit. The temperature on our CeDUR Class A certified burning brand test reached temperatures in excess of 1,400 degrees Fahrenheit and CeDUR shakes did not reach ignition. In the event of a wildfire, flames spread roof to roof, with embers from the fire being a major cause of traveling fire damage. CeDUR synthetic roofing products are stand-alone Class A Fire Rated without the need of a special fire-resistant underlayment during installation. In the event of a fire, CeDUR synthetic shakes can extinguish flame spread and do not allow a flame to propagate on the surface of the product. Using a fire-resistant synthetic roofing product like CeDUR has the potential to save properties and save lives in the event of a wildfire. This fire-resistant technology is patented and proprietary to CeDUR.
CeDUR does not require a special fire-resistant underlayment to achieve a Class A Fire Rated roofing system
Class A Fire Rating - Stand Alone - highest rating obtainable - ASTM E108, UL 790

Class 4 UL 2218 Impact Resistant Roofing with CeDUR
Your roof is an essential part of your home or building, and you want to be sure it is strong enough to take an impact. A Class 4 impact resistant roof is among the most durable types of roofing products on the market. CeDUR synthetic roofing shakes mimic the natural beauty of wood shakes with the added benefit of being Class 4 UL 2218 Impact Resistant. CeDUR synthetic shakes passed the Underwriters Laboratories UL 2218 impact test with a Class 4 Impact Resistance Rating. This is the highest impact rating that a roofing product can achieve. A Class 4 impact rated roof is an essential part of any home or structure. If the roofing tiles are not durable, they can break under the stress of extreme weather, which can leave the home or building prone to leaks and other serious structural issues. Because of that, it is essential to invest in a high quality, impact resistant roof for the most protection. A UL 2218 Class 4 impact rated roof will provide the most protection from wind, rain, heavy snow, and hail.
Class 4 Impact Resistance with CeDUR
When it comes to Class 4 impact resistant shingles and impact resistance for your home, here are a few things you should know:
There are four impact resistance ratings from Class 1 to Class 4.
Class 4 impact resistant shingles are the most durable and impact resistant.
If you have a Class 4 impact resistant roof then your roof is able to better withstand hail damage and impact resistance.
In the Class 4 impact resistance test, a 2-inch steel ball is dropped from a height of 20+ feet on multiple surface points of a roofing tile.
In order to achieve a Class 4 impact resistance rating the roofing material must withstand the impact test and not suffer damage.
CeDUR synthetic shakes passed the Underwriters Laboratories UL 2218 impact test with a Class 4 Impact Resistance Rating.
Our testing was completed through QAI Laboratories (Quality Assurance Institute).
This is the highest impact rating that a roofing product can achieve.
Insurance Savings for Class 4 Impact Resistant Roofing
Natural wood shake shingles and other traditional roofing materials are potentially a high-risk liability for insurance companies covering residential dwellings. As a result, insurance companies may charge premiums for homeowners with a wood shake roof. Insurance companies are cautious of advising homeowners to install or re-repair their natural cedar shake roof, especially in high-risk wildfire danger zones due to durability concerns and fire risk associated with wood shake shingles. To replace a wood shake roof with a Class A Fire Rated and Class 4 Impact Rated roofing material like CeDUR, may alleviate insurance premiums. The installation of a new CeDUR synthetic roof means fire-resistance synthetic shake roof and potential reductions in homeowners insurance cost.

Due to our impact resistance and fire-resistant technology CeDUR is eligible for impact resistance discounts. CeDUR is listed on most major insurance companies’ premium credits product listing. This includes companies like State Farm Insurance, Chubb Insurance, and American Family Insurance. Homeowners with a CeDUR synthetic roof have the potential to receive insurance policy discounts.

Installation Information for CeDUR Synthetic Roofing Products
Our synthetic roofing products are durable and easy for roofing contractors to handle and install. CeDUR is a light weight roofing product at just 170 pounds per square (1 square = 100 square feet on your roof). CeDUR shakes install like natural cedar shakes, so if a roofing contractor has experience installing wood shakes, they can install our synthetic roofing shakes. CeDUR synthetic shakes are lighter than wood, clay tiles, recycled rubber, and other composite synthetic roofing materials. At this weight CeDUR synthetic roofing products do not require a special batten system during installation or the need for costly structural weight modifications or special reinforcement to the roof structure prior to installation. Unlike other roofing products that may require a batten system prior to roof installation, CeDUR installs direct to the roof deck and no special tools or hardware are required during installation.
CeDUR synthetic shakes may be installed in a straight course method or staggered course method. No special tools, hardware or accessories are needed and CeDUR shakes can be cut, nailed, or screwed. There is no need for special accessories or special tools during the installation. CeDUR features just three product pieces: 1) CeDUR Starter, 2) CeDUR Field material, and 3) CeDUR Hip and Ridge material. CeDUR is Class 4 Impact Rated, UL 2218 impact rating (the highest impact resistance available), and CeDUR is resistant to scratching, scuffing and hail damage. CeDUR synthetic shakes are also Class A Fire Rated, ASTM E108 (the highest fire resistance available), without the need of a special fire-resistant underlayment during installation.
Solid Throughout Just Like Natural Cedar Shakes
Just like heavy hand split natural cedar shakes, CeDUR synthetic roofing shakes are solid throughout and do not feature a cavity back or hollow back side. CeDUR is not a hollow back or cavity back roofing product, so on the back side of the product you will not notice a waffle like structure. Instead, CeDUR synthetic shakes have a solid core with color through pigmentation and CeDUR shakes are solid from top to bottom and front to back. Our proprietary polyurethane manufacturing process allows CeDUR synthetic wood shakes to be solid throughout and extremely light weight and durable. A solid product composition can mean better insulation for your roof. CeDUR synthetic shakes are rated at an insulation value of R > 2.0 R factor (approximately 20% greater than natural heavy cedar shakes).
CeDUR synthetic shakes are colored throughout for stability and uniformity at cuts. Our color through pigmentation and Closed Cell Technology allows color to permeate all the way through our product instead of being applied to just the surface of the product. The cut end of a CeDUR synthetic shake is weather resistant. CeDUR synthetic shakes require no sealing or treatment to cut edges due to their closed cell structure which permits no significant water absorption. This allows for easy installation on a roof’s valleys, eaves, gables, rakes, and hips because the CeDUR product can be easily cut and scored using a utility knife or skill saw to fit into tight or unique spaces on your roof without sacrificing appearance.

Realistic Wood Shake Colors
When it comes to natural cedar wood shakes, you will not find a variety of color options. Cedar wood shakes are mostly available in 3 options - Alaskan yellow cedar, western red cedar, and eastern white cedar. Depending on your location, over time cedar shakes tend to weather to tan, brown, red, and gray shades of color. At CeDUR we manufacture 4 colors, Shiloh, Live Oak, Walden, and Golden Cedar. You will not find natural cedar shakes in a variety of colors and at CeDUR we wanted to replicate that. CeDUR shakes will, by design, shift color upon exposure to the Sun. This color change takes place gradually over the first 90 days of installation and then stabilizes at a weathered wood color for the life of the product. Unlike other roofing manufacturers, CeDUR shakes do not contain any UV stabilizers or UV inhibitors. Instead, just like natural cedar shakes, CeDUR ages naturally with the Suns UV light during the first 90 days after installation. After the initial aging process the color will set and remain stable.
Authentic Wood Look for Historic Roofing Projects
At CeDUR we understand that replacing or repairing older roofs can be difficult and costly. Traditional roofing materials found on aged properties no longer meet modern safety or building codes. In fact, the use of wood shake shingles is banned in many high-risk fire zones and mountain communities throughout the United States. CeDUR synthetic shakes make it possible to match the original intended look of a historical property while meeting modern day performance characteristics. As a pioneer of polyurethane roofing materials since 1998, CeDUR has been a reliable roofing material for government projects, religious facilities, and educational buildings. Traditional roofing materials like wood shake shingles or asphalt shingles are a liability during severe weather because they do not adequately protect the building from natures harsh elements and they can have a shortened life cycle. CeDUR shakes offer a long-term roofing solution while enhancing a property’s curb appeal and more importantly restoring the intended architectural design and style of a historical property. CeDUR synthetic shakes provide the most authentic wood look in a durable and lasting synthetic material that is light weight and does not require structural weight modifications prior to installation. CeDUR synthetic shakes are trusted by historians, preservationists, and historical preservation societies across the United States.
Deep Grain Patterns with a 3/4” inch Butt End

Our polyurethane manufacturing process allows us to create incredibly authentic and realistic synthetic roofing products with unique wood grain patterns and genuine wood tones, textures, and depth. While other synthetic roofing products claim to offer the real wood shake look, none can match the authentic wood beauty of CeDUR synthetic roofing products. Other roofing products that attempt to look like natural cedar shakes are simply unauthentic and can have a sheen look and shiny appearance in direct sunlight. A CeDUR roof gives any home classic wood shake beauty without the constant maintenance and headaches inherent in traditional roofing materials like natural wood shake shingles.
