CeDUR Live Oak Synthetic Roofing Products

CeDUR Live Oak is reminiscent of a brand new traditional heavy hand split natural cedar shake. Live Oak roofs compliment darker tones very well, including tan, brown, dark gray and brick. Live Oak perfectly captures the look of traditional hand split natural cedar wood shakes. Caramel brown is an accurate color description of this beautiful synthetic cedar wood shake. Live Oak roofs compliment natural surroundings and mountain homes and provide warm wood tones.

A CeDUR synthetic roof combines the desirable cedar shake look with the latest in design and technology. All CeDUR synthetic shakes are solid throughout with no cavity back and molded from natural cedar shakes. CeDUR synthetic shakes are manufactured in three multi-width sizes, 5 1/4” shakes, 7 1/4” shakes, and 12 1/4” shakes. CeDUR synthetic shakes will, by design, shift color upon exposure to the Sun. This color change takes place gradually over the first 90 days of installation (depending on time and intensity of Sun exposure) and then stabilizes at a weathered wood color for the life of the product. Our synthetic roofing products do not incorporate UV inhibitors or UV stabilizers and your roof will age naturally with the Sun. Natural movement is designed into our product to give your roof the most authentic wood shake appearance.

  • Wood shake roofs are known to retain moisture. Mold and mildew grow best in moist environments and a wood shake roof requires routine maintenance to avoid mold and mildew build up. Once mold or mildew set in and additional moisture is retained, water damage, rot, and roof leaking can potentially occur. CeDUR synthetic roofing products feature a solid core with no cavity back. This allows for easy installation on a roof’s valleys, eaves, gable, rake, and hips because the CeDUR product can be easily cut and scored using a utility knife or skill saw to fit into tight and unique spaces on your roof without sacrificing appearance. CeDUR synthetic shakes are resistant to rot, moss, water absorption and insects. The polyurethane product composition of CeDUR provides installers with stability and uniformity at cuts and is resistant to water absorption.

Wood shakes are naturally flammable and untreated wood shakes can be ignited by firebrands, exposure to fire, or traveling embers from a nearby fire. CeDUR Live Oak shakes are fire-resistant and stand-alone Class A Fire Rated - ASTM E108.

Wood roofs provide thermal insulation properties. CeDUR Live Oak roofs also provide insulation benefits and are rated at an insulation value of R > 2.0 R factor (approximately 20% greater than heavy wood shakes).

If energy efficiency is important for you and your home environment, then CeDUR shakes are worth a look. The insulation properties of a CeDUR roof can help keep your home warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.

  • CeDUR Live Oak roofing products replicate the authentic wood look of heavy hand split natural cedar shakes. Alternative roofing products and other synthetic roofing products attempt to replicate the wood shake look, but other roofing products can have an un-natural shiny plastic look and plastic sheen appearance in direct sunlight. CeDUR shakes are designed and engineered to reproduce the rustic natural wood look with the latest in design and technology.

Wood is a timeless look that pairs with most home styles and color schemes. Whether you have a coastal, modern, traditional, cottage, southwestern, colonial, Victorian or contemporary style home, you can trust that CeDUR shakes will complement the architectural integrity and style of your home.

CeDUR Synthetic Roofing Products and Sizing:

Please note: Chalk lines should be snapped on the underlayment with the tips of the shakes following the lines. Do not snap lines on the CeDUR shakes or use red chalk as the chalk may permanently discolor the shakes. Material pallets should not be stacked more than two pallets high. During roof installation, please ensure proper keyway spacing between shakes and proper course alignment. Keyways should not line up vertically from course to course. More information is below.
